Dom is a one-man-phenomenon. And he doesn’t compete. With his grace and acrobatic talent, it’s hard to imagine anyone coming close to doing what Dom does best. After his last great championship – and, at the Austrian Trial Championships 2003, Dom was, indeed, the Champion! – he decided to leave competitive cycling and start his solo bike acrobatics career. In 2007 he joined the international UMF Velo Team, and has been a professional trick master in the world’s creative biking scene ever since. “It’s unbelievable how biking has changed my whole life,” Dom explains. “I’ve been able to travel the world and see the most amazing places and things. The very best thing of all is I get to go biking every day!”
Dom rides the Velo VL 7101 from the Senso Pivotal series in a limited edition created especially for the UMF team. “It’s very light and I love it!”, he says. Weighing just 167 grams with a light skin seat, he is very happy with the unique pivotal technique. “It’s the best saddle to support my jumps and tricks, and it makes my bike look good. I need a heavy-duty saddle, but one that is light and streamlined, to let me really feel ‘one’ with my bike.” Dom rides his UMF street-trials prototype and loves it as much as his Senso saddle. “It’s so versatile,” he says.
Touring the continents with his bike and his great sense of humor, Dom keeps the crowds entertained performing his one-of-a-kind feats and doing trials, putting on shows, and doing photo and video shootings. A born showman, his travels have taken him from his home in Linz, Austria to Germany, Switzerland, Italy, France, Spain, Belgium, Sweden, the Czech Republic, Romania, Taiwan, China, Great Britain and the USA. Dominik Raab combines the MTB and Trial riding disciplines with sensational ease, riding upside down through the air the way most people walk up a set of stairs. You’ve got to see him to believe him – a real Senso New Hero!
